Spider-Man: No Way Home Extended Cut to Release In Theaters

Marvel Studios has had a killer 2022 thus far with releases like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, comic book fans everywhere still can’t get enough of the biggest film of 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home. This trilogy capper was the first film since the pandemic to make over $1 billion at the box office. More importantly, it made every Spider-Man fan’s dream come true by bringing Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s versions of the character together for the first time. No Way Home recently came out on Blu-ray in April, but now Sony Pictures has announced a new cut of the film titled Spider-Man: No Way Home - The More Fun Stuff Version that will be swinging into theaters on September 2 in the US and Canada with more countries being announced soon.

The re-release was announced in a short humorous video posted on Spider-Man’s various social media pages. The video features all three fan-favorite Spider-Men giving us a tease of what to expect with new dialogue from Garfield’s Spider-Man from the finale saying “we should do this again”. Maguire’s Wall Crawler cheerfully agrees with him. This new edition of the film will help celebrate Spider-Man’s 60th anniversary and 20 years of the character’s cinematic multiverse.

The “fan cut”, like the announcement teased, will feature deleted and extended scenes. How much this cut will add is anyone's guess, but fans are about to get more of what made this film so special. Seeing Holland, Garfield, and Maguire together in costume was an absolute fever dream. Six months later and it’s still hard to believe it happened. The multiverse element to this film somehow managed to add so much meaningful heart to this crazy adventure without taking away from Holland’s own journey as Spider-Man.

The behind-the-scenes extras on the Blu-ray showed us a few glimpses of scenes that didn’t make the final cut of the film. This includes a shot of Maguire’s Spider-Man fighting Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin. It’s a safe bet that we’ll see that in this new cut because the two never got a single interaction together in the film despite Goblin heart-wrenchingly stabbing his version of Spider-Man through the back in the finale.

Whatever the case may be, this announcement will definitely make any fan’s Spider-sense tingle. Especially given that Sony's Spider-Verse will soon be growing with upcoming films like Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web. Tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home - The More Fun Stuff Version will go on sale Tuesday, August 9 and, while we anxiously wait for this Labor Day Weekend, you can watch the amusing teaser for the event down below.

Are you going to pay to see it again with the deleted scenes? Let us know in the comments below.

Shazam 2 Adds Veteran Marvel Cinematic Universe Composer

Although Shazam!: Fury of the Gods actually had its release date moved ahead in Warner Bros.' most recent scheduling change, the sequel has flown mostly under the radar. Following Dwayne Johnson's run with Black Adam in October, veteran DC star Zachary Levi will bring Shazam back into the DCEU with a sequel that should take everything from the first movie to new levels of excitement.

David F. Sandberg is back to direct his second DCEU movie four full years after the original movie debuted in theaters, although he's been subject to various scheduling changes for Shazam! 2 with the changing movie landscape. He has openly discussed some of the plans for his upcoming sequel with fans on social media throughout the process, many times providing plenty of laughs with so many changes for his next outing.

With filming having wrapped for Shazam! 2 in September 2021, Sandberg and Warner Bros. are deep into the post-production process to bring the editing, music, and special effects into play for the film's final cut.

In Sandberg's most recent update, he shared who will bring the musical score to life for Zachary Levi's sequel, a veteran Marvel composer who is now in the world of DC.

Shazam Gets Marvel Regular as Composer

Shazam!: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg shared on Twitter that Christophe Beck will serve as the composer for his second DCEU movie.

Beck Adds DC Movie to Resume

Christophe Beck is quickly growing into an industry favorite composer with what will be nearly half a dozen scores from the Marvel Cinematic Universe by early next year. Now, he gets the chance to take that expertise to the DC side of the equation for Warner Bros.' final movie of this year - one which will follow up on one of the DCEU's most critically successful films to date.

Beck also becomes the second composer this year to move from Marvel to DC after the Spider-Man trilogy's Michael Giacchino delivered a widely-popular musical score on Matt Reeves' The Batman. This only adds to Beck's impressive resume from the past few years as he continues his run through the world of comic book movies.

Now, the wait continues for more names to be added to Shazam! 2's crew as Sandberg and his team work diligently to finish their work on the film over the next six months. The sequel's promotional tour should be on its way to starting in the next few weeks, and with Avatar: Way of the Water releasing only a few days earlier, Warner Bros. will want to make sure this movie gets its own shine.

Shazam!: Fury of the Gods will debut in theaters on December 21.

'Midnight Suns' Trailer Reveals New Superpowered Lineup of Heroes

Marvel Entertainment has just released a new trailer for Midnight Suns, giving us a look into Lilith, Mother of Demons' dark hold over many of Marvel's most beloved characters. The game, which is a tactical RPG from Firaxis Games and 2K, will launch worldwide October 7, 2022.

Included in the trailer were several fan-favorite characters, from a demonized Hulk and Venom, who we see taken under Lilith's dark powers. On Spider-Man's side are Wolverine, Scarlet Witch, Blade, Iron Man, and Ghost Rider. Accompanying the eclectic group of Marvel characters who come together in a dark and brooding conflict is "Master of Puppets" by Metallica, a fitting musical accompaniment to a game that centers on maybe the most sinister master of puppets, Lilith herself.

The new trailer revealed Spider-Man's presence as an unlockable character in the game. Yuri Lowenthal will voice your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Lowenthal previously voiced Spidey in PlayStation's games. However, Lowenthal will not be voicing that version of the hero. Players will play as a new and original superhero known as The Hunter. It will be your job as a player to assemble the elite group of heroes in ord to take down both Lilith and her evil Hydra allies.

Midnight Suns is currently available for pre-order in four different variations. The standard version of the game will retail for $59.99 and will only feature the base game. The standard version will only be on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The enhanced edition, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, will have console optimizations and five premium cosmetic skins. The enhanced edition will cost $69.99, ten dollars above the standard version. The digital+ edition will be available on all formats and will include 11 premium skins. The digital+ edition will cost $79.99. And, of course, for $99.99 you can purchase the legendary edition, which features 23 cosmetic skins and includes Marvel’s Midnight Suns Season Pass. Information regarding what the season pass includes has not yet been released.

You can currently preorder the game, which will be released worldwide on October 7, 2022. Until then, however, you can watch the new cinematic trailer and maybe slip under Lilith's spell, or just revel in all of the exciting characters set to be included in the game, from the demonized Hulk and Venom to Spider-Man and his heroic allies:

The Confirmed Characters in Black Adam Movies?

Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam is, obviously, the main character of the movie. Born as a slave named Teth-Adam in the nation of Kahndaq, Adam is a brave and fundamentally heroic person. But despite his good intentions, he’s a ruthless warrior who would destroy anyone who gets in his way without a second thought.

Besides Adam, the movie will also see Shahi play Adrianna Tomaz, a university professor and resistance fighter in Kahndaq. In the comics, Adrianna eventually becomes the superhero called Isis and marries Black Adam. She is responsible for tempering Adam’s violent tendencies and pushing him towards more heroic paths. Whether the character will have a similar path in the movie is something we’ll have to wait and see.

Black Adam will also feature the Justice Society of America, a multigenerational team of superheroes who were the predecessors of the Justice League. The JSA has had a massive roster of heroes in the comics (including Adam) but only a handful are going to appear in the movie.

Centineo will be playing Atom Smasher, a JSA member with the power to change his size and density. Adam Copeland played a version of the character in Season 2 of The Flash.

Hodge will appear as Hawkman. The leader of the JSA, Hawkman is the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince. In this life, he’s an archaeologist who can fly using wings made out of an alien material called Nth metal. Hawkman is a popular character who has previously appeared in comics, animation, and live-action. The character was played by Michael Shanks in Smallville and by Falk Hentschel in The CW’s Arrowverse.

Swindell plays another JSA member known as Cyclone. She’s the granddaughter of the original Red Tornado. Cyclone has the power to control wind and sound. Her spot on the team was originally meant to be taken by Hawkgirl but the character was ultimately dropped from the movie.

Pierce Brosnan rounds out the movie’s JSA roster as Kent Nelson / Doctor Fate. Nelson is the son of an archaeologist who was chosen by the Helmet of Fate to become a magical superhero and defend the world against the forces of chaos. In case you’re wondering, Doctor Fate was introduced 23 years before Doctor Strange so he isn’t a rip-off of Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme. Brent Stait played the character in Smallville and versions of the character have appeared in a lot of DC animated shows and games.

The movie will also feature the international gang of criminals imaginatively named Intergang. Additionally, Bodhi Sabongui will reportedly be playing an as-yet-undisclosed key character from the Black Adam comics.

When Is Black Adam Filming?

Principal photography on Black Adam began in April 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. The movie was initially scheduled to begin filming in July 2020 but this was delayed by the coronavirus situation.

Johnson announced on July 15, 2021, that he had completed filming his scenes and the movie had officially wrapped. Some filming for the movie continued without Johnson for a few weeks after that, shifting to Los Angeles. Executive producer Dany Garciaconfirmed this on July 25 saying, “We haven’t wrapped yet, so we still have a few more weeks. [Dwayne] wrapped, so that’s kind of a wrap. Black Adam wrapped. But we’ve got a lot of really good things going on that, actually, will continue in LA."

When Is Black Adam Set?

Black Adam is expected to be set in the present day. Seeing as it’s technically a sequel to Shazam!, the movie will probably take place after the events of the first film.

Some parts of the movie are likely to be set 5000 years ago during the time of Kahndaq’s glory. But besides possible flashbacks, Black Adam will largely be a modern-day take on the character.

What Is Black Adam’s Story?

During Adam’s time, Kahndaq was an oppressive nation that used magic and sorcery to enslave parts of its population. But once he became the Champion, Adam used his power to liberate his people and rule Kahndaq as its king.

He was originally a hero but after his family was killed, Adam turned to darkness and unintentionally released the demons known as the Seven Deadly Sins. He was then imprisoned for his crimes and Black Adam will see him return from his prison after 5000 years, determined to return Kahndaq to its former glory.

It’s currently unknown how the movie connects to Shazam! but the death of the Wizard could be what allows Adam to escape his prison. While the specifics of the movie’s plot haven’t been released yet, we’ll probably see Black Adam re-establish his kingdom. This might cause the JSA to oppose him, leading to a war between Adam and the superheroes. Considering how these stories usually go, a bigger threat will probably rise, causing the heroes to band together to save the world.

Will Black Adam Have Sequels?

DC has big plans for Black Adam in the DCEU, though no sequels have been confirmed yet. In 2017, Johnson explained there were plans to have Adam face-off against Shazam in a future film.

“So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie," he said. "We're building our world that way, and then we can come together at some point."

Superman actor Henry Cavill had also teased a possible crossover between Black Adam and the Man of Steel in the DCEU’s future. His exact words were that “There is definitely some kind of work towards that.”

Now admittedly, plans do change so we might not actually get a Black Adam v Superman: Dawn of Capes movie. But the character will definitely have a future in the DCEU in some form, even if nothing has been officially announced. Black Adam has recently had a resurgence in the comics, even becoming a main member of the Justice League. So it does look like DC is pushing the character to be a major player in the coming years. Of course, whether Black Adam does get to have a sequel or not will depend entirely on the success of the movie once it debuts.

'Black Adam': Everything We Know So Far || Details & More || Movie

It’s been a long time coming but Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s highly anticipated DC Extended Universe debut is now on track to arrive in theaters. Black Adam, starring the wrestling legend and actor as the titular antihero, is a spinoff and sequel to the 2019 movie Shazam!. The movie has been in the works since the early 2000s and now we’re finally getting close to seeing it in theaters. Black Adam, a powerful being on par with Superman, is the original champion of the wizard Shazam. But unlike his heroic counterpart played by Zachary Levi, Adam’s sense of morality is often a bit more… let’s say flexible. Black Adam will tell the story of the character’s return to the mortal world after spending a long time in a magical prison. We can only guess what terrible vengeance he will have in store for the world.

Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Johnson’s new Disney movie, Jungle Cruise. Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the film’s story. Besides Adam, the movie will also feature several beloved characters from the Justice Society of America, making it a must-watch for DC fans. To get you prepared for this exciting new DCEU film, we’ve put together everything we know about Black Adam so far, from the plot and casting details to updates on filming and release dates.

Black Adam Trailer

The first official trailer for Black Adam hit the web on June 8, 2022, giving us our first real good look at the film after numerous teasers and clips. The trailer shows off the Justice Society of America having to take on the titular character after he's been awakened from a 5,000-year slumber. At one point Hawkman tells Black Adam "Heroes don't kill people," with the anti-hero bluntly responding "Well I do." With plenty of superhero action, a sense of humor, a snarky callback to the first Iron Man movie, and The Rock being The Rock (as Black Adam), the trailer definitely didn't disappoint.

When Is Black Adam’s Release Date?

Black Adam is currently scheduled to premiere in the United States on October 21, 2022. Originally, the film was supposed to arrive in theaters on December 22, 2021, but those plans had to be abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was eventually pushed to July 29, 2022, before ultimately settling on its current release date.

Who Is in Black Adam’s Cast?

Besides Dwayne Johnson, the cast of Black Adam will include a number of classic DC characters played by Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan. Other cast members include Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu, whose roles have currently not yet been revealed.

Despite the movie’s links to Shazam!, Levi and Asher Angel won’t be reprising their roles as Shazam and Billy Batson, respectively, in Black Adam. That’s just as well, though, because it does look like the film will have more than its fair share of superheroes.

'RRR', the Action Musical Putting Other Summer Blockbusters to Shame || RRR Movies ||

An unrelenting ride of a film that makes blockbusters such as Top Gun: Maverick look like child’s play and leaves whatever is happening in Jurassic World Dominion in its dust, S.S. Rajamouli’s action musical epic RRR is what cinema can only hope to aspire to. It is an experience that provides a shock to the system and overwhelms all the senses, more than earning the reputation it has developed over the last few months since its release back in March. If you can imagine an epic journey that packs the bromance and action of John Wick while dialing it up by about a thousand percent, then you have some idea of what this film is like. Even as it runs over three hours, it all flies by with a persistent focus on scale and excitement that never lets up. From the precise presentation to the engaging epic story, it all comes together to create a summer blockbuster that puts everything else to shame. Ethan Hunt wishes he could go as hard as the legendary Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju.

Played to perfection by N.T. Rama Rao Jr and Ram Charan, the film is set in 1920s colonial India where it follows the historical figures as they form a fictional friendship. They first meet in a triumphant early scene when they must come together to rescue a boy from a flaming train crash. Using their wits and superhuman strength, it is a sequence that sets the stage for a story that only gets increasingly more spectacular. This is also the moment when the title first drops at nearly 40 minutes in as the duo lock arms, always a bold move that ensures you’re in for something special. The acronym stands for Rise, Roar, Revolt in English, and it could not be a more perfect encapsulation of the ride the film takes us on. There is no recent summer blockbuster that created such everlasting joy as I was watching it, a testament to the power of its fast-moving flair built around friendship. It is one of the rare films that you feel like you can actually recommend to literally anyone as it truly has something of everything.

If you have any lingering skepticism this is hyperbole, I can assure you that it is not. While it is understandable to have some doubt when something gets such breathless praise so as not to be disappointed when you actually see it, the film itself melts that all away in an instant. If anything, all of the adoration sells it short in just how comprehensively visionary it is. It, quite frankly, has everything you could want from an action film like this and then some. You can see a courageous man roar in the face of a terrifying tiger while using his brute strength to capture it in a net, people leap through the air with ease as if they are almost flying, and the most intense dance-off you’ve ever seen. If you think this is an exaggeration, then you have no idea just how long these characters will furiously and ferociously dance for. It is entertainment of the highest order, getting you to root for them with a permanent smile etched on your face as you witness their skills on the dance floor. It is a wondrous moment among oh so many.

It is this unrelenting desire and love for the extreme that makes it such a cut above any other film of its kind. The closest reference point that can be conjured up is to an iconic work like Mad Max: Fury Road though even that feels like it can only scratch the surface of all that RRR manages to achieve. In addition to having everything from the aforementioned animals to incredible fight sequences, it just completely leaps off the screen as it keeps reaching new heights with scene after scene. It is unrelentingly ludicrous while still finding a precision in its construction that never lets up. It is an edge-of-your-seat experience that most summer action blockbusters could only dream of achieving and most never do. From its ridiculous stunt work to its dedicated direction, it is one of the most bonkers experiences you'll ever have in seeing a film. While this is no surprise considering just how much director Rajamouli pushes himself as a filmmaker with each new work, it still feels like he has tapped into something really special here. That only makes the word-of-mouth interest in this most recent release all the more exciting as it has driven a resurgence of interest and appreciation for his craft. He has made what a summer blockbuster can and should be, defying any rules about what is possible with ease. It is a magical journey, an action thrill ride, and a charming story of two bros that raises the bar for what can be achieved when it comes to cinema of this kind. It is truly one-of-a-kind.

It is enduringly inventive and imaginative without ever losing the emotional core of the characters undertaking an unlikely anti-colonial rescue operation. It is a film that sings with a clarity that continues to leave you awestruck. Even when there is often a lot of narrative foundation to establish, this all pays off incredibly well. There is betrayal and brutality, giving everything grounded stakes even as it takes to the sky whenever it can. It makes use of every tool in its filmmaking toolbox to remarkable effect with an expansive score, a litany of well-timed slow-motion shots, expertly framed action spectacle, and special effects so ridiculous they make up for any moments you see through them. It is indulgent though in a way that becomes illuminating in how vibrant it is. Every moment of the film leaves you feeling the vibrations of its joyous and bloody beating heart. It is the cinematic equivalent of a supernova, exploding outward in all directions until nothing is left untouched by its all-consuming fire. The biggest risk in watching the film? It is certain to make all future blockbusters pale in comparison to its adventurous and ambitious creation of pure action cinema that is without any competition. It pushes the form forward unlike any films have before or likely ever will.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Soars Above the Original With One of the Best Blockbusters in Years | ( Movies Review )

In many ways, Maverick’s (Tom Cruise) story in 1986’s Top Gun feels like a story told with the hindsight of an older man reflecting on the foolishness of his youth. The original Top Gun is two hours of machismo, sweaty showoffs, and toxic personalities, centered around a careless character who eventually learns the dangers of his cockiness and shenanigans. Top Gun is the kind of story that one could imagine an older character sharing with the younger generation, a cautionary tale about how life isn’t all hot dogging in planes, oiled-up volleyball, and Kenny Loggins songs. It’s not hard to imagine an older Maverick telling people that he used to be a real piece of shit.

Maverick made choices back in his 20s, choices that still have reverberations to this day, that haunt him, that inform his decisions almost forty years later. With Top Gun, we saw Maverick as a selfish character who put himself before everyone else, and while he still lives up to his name, now, he’s more interested in what’s best for the group as opposed to what’s best for him. In Top Gun: Maverick, the staggeringly great sequel from director Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion, TRON: Legacy), Maverick has been living in the shadow of the choices that younger Maverick made, and now, 36 years later, this character is back, ready to confront the danger zone of a past that has haunted him since the first film.

The changes in Maverick are apparent from the very first action sequence. The former hotshot pilot is trying to prove that he can take a plane to Mach 10 in order to prove that a plane with a living, breathing person behind it is more effective than an unmanned drone. The Maverick we last saw in Top Gun would’ve attempted this feat simply to boost his own ego, an attempt to prove that he’s the greatest pilot in the world. Yet in this sequence, Kosinski shows us that this isn’t his focus anymore, but rather, if he succeeds, it’ll be better for his team, who will likely lose their jobs if he fails. This selflessness is a completely different Maverick than the character we’ve seen before.

But that doesn’t mean Maverick doesn’t still have the same daring and desire to push his boundaries. It’s this type of attitude that has left him at his current captain’s rank. As Vice Admiral “Cyclone” (Jon Hamm) tells Maverick, he can’t get promoted, he won’t retire, and he refuses to die. At the end of Top Gun, Maverick wanted to be a teacher, but after two months in the classroom thirty years ago, Maverick also couldn’t maintain that position. But Admiral Cyclone gives Maverick a choice: either he trains a group of Top Gun graduates for a highly-specialized mission, or Maverick will never fly again for the Navy. Maverick agrees, and heads back to Top Gun, where he trains an elite team of pilots, including the cocky Hangman (Glen Powell) and Rooster (Miles Teller), the son of Maverick’s late best friend, Goose.

As Maverick trains Hangman, Rooster, and the rest of these Top Gun graduates, Top Gun: Maverick finds a way to pay homage to the iconic moments of Top Gun, but in a way that doesn’t feel frivolous and serves a purpose in this new, more urgent story. For example, the sun-drenched beachside game this time around is used as a team-building tool, whereas this new gang getting together and singing at a bar leads to one of the film’s surprisingly emotional moments—of which there are several. Maverick finds a way to pay tribute to the past, but in a way that builds upon the film we know and adds weight to these moments.

Similarly, with Cruise returning as Maverick, Top Gun: Maverick feels like a character and an actor reliving their glory days in the most joyous way possible. Through Maverick, Cruise gets to explore one of his most infamous characters, but in a way that now has a significant amount of emotional heft. As Maverick, we get a reminder of just how many things Cruise does extremely well as an actor, and in some of these aspects, we’re seeing parts of Cruise in this role that we haven’t seen in years. Of course, Top Gun: Maverick allows Cruise to show that he remains one of the greatest living action stars, who—like Maverick—is willing to push his limitations to their breaking point. But Maverick also shows Cruise’s gifts at playing a compelling leading man, an effective romantic lead—alongside an equally wonderful Jennifer Connelly—a comedian with excellent timing, and an actor who can really make a film’s emotional moments sing.

Maverick, with its screenplay by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie, knows how to tap into that nostalgia for the original and find the emotional moments that would hit Maverick’s character hard, and Cruise plays these scenes with grace and power. There’s a clear love that Cruise, Kosinski, and this team of writers have for these characters and this story, and thanks in large part to Cruise’s performance, this love really shines through, especially in scenes where Maverick has to explore his past and the decisions that led him to where he is today.

The growth that this film shows over the original is arguably at its clearest with the new squad of pilots. Of course, there's still the arrogant pilot who thinks he's the best in Powell's Hangman, but especially with Teller's Rooster, we're seeing a character like Maverick, who is haunted by the legacy of this father and with something to prove, but without the smugness and pride. Through Teller's performance, we can see the weight of Maverick's past in human form, the pain he's caused, and the wrongs he wishes he could right, and some of Maverick's best scenes involve Rooster and Maverick having to reckon with this difficult past. It's also exciting to see a new crew with more diversity and more character than we're genuinely excited to spend time with.

Kosinski does all this in what also is likely to be the best action film of 2022, a tense and continuously exciting epic that knows exactly how to escalate the tension of every impressive action sequence. Top Gun: Maverick might contain some of the best plane scenes in the history of film, and soars over the stunts of the original. This is the type of white-knuckle, awe-inducing action film that deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible, with an audience stuck at the edge of their seats. Yet again, Top Gun: Maverick doesn’t include action for action's sake, each remarkable action sequence serves a narrative purpose, and expands what we know about these characters when they are in their element in the skies.

When talking about Top Gun: Maverick, it’s hard not to sound hyperbolic, but this is the rare case where it absolutely deserves all the massive praise. Top Gun: Maverick improves upon the original in every conceivable way (well, the soundtrack doesn’t have Berlin, so that’s one strike against it), and does so in a way that might make this one of the greatest sequels ever made. It’s also hard not to say this might have some of the most exciting action scenes to ever hit the skies, and gives Cruise one of his best performances by returning to the role that made him a star. Top Gun: Maverick is a marvel of a film, one that will truly take your breath away.

Rating: A

Top Gun: Maverick opens in theaters on May 27.
